D-Limonene rich volatile oil from blood oranges inhibits angiogenesis, metastasis and cell death in human colon cancer cells.

AIMS: To identify the chemical constituents of voilital oil from blood orange (Citrus sinensis (L) Osbeck) and understand the possible mechanisms of inhibition of colon cancer cell proliferation.
KEY FINDINGS: BVOE exhibited dose-dependent inhibition of cell proliferation and induced apoptosis in the colon cancer cells, as confirmed by flow cytometry.

C. Cell begins to disintegrate
D. Cell fragments removed by macrophages ( scavengers)
